It's been way too long since the last update, and way too
long since I've worked on retroDrive, I had to take break as work intruded on
my time. Anyways, NFL2K3 is about done and I foresee many free evenings and
weekends in the future, so hopefully I can get back to some retroDrive coding!
I vaguely remember that I was the midst of writing something really cool!
Hopefully I remember where I left off and bring it to completion.

In my last minute rush to release retroDrive, I broke the
EEPROM code for the Acclaim games, so a few games that should have been
working with rd5 don't work; they show vertical blue bars instead. I've fixed
the problem for the next release.
I've been looking at the stats for my web page and I've
been amazed at the number of different countries everyone is downloading rd
from. I've had more downloads from Japan and China than from English speaking
countries! Perhaps I'll add multi-lingual support sooner than planned.

retroDrive 5 and SH2 source release 3 are now available for
download. A list of changes is included in the documentation.

Big News! The next version of retroDrive will not longer
require the 32X BIOS!
February 23, 2002
I did some work on retroDrive back in December and added
some new debugging features. In the last several days I've been working on
performance and compatibility of 32X games. I've also fixed a few Genesis
games. A number of 32X games are working much better now. Virtua Racing which
stopped working very well a few versions ago is running fine again. Oh, yeah,
Knuckles & Chaotix is now playable. No idea when the next release will be.

retroDrive 4 is released! Several bug fixes, mainly 32X
stuff.

retroDrive 3 is released! Bug fixes, faster execution, and
now introducing: 32X PWM sound!

Progress is going slowly, but I do manage to find the time
to occasionally update retroDrive. The latest change of interest is I now have
32X PWM sound working! A few things in the emulator have gotten a bit messy,
so once I get things a bit cleaner and more stable, I'll make another release.

retroDrive 2 is now available for download. I’ve written a
brand-new emulation core which drives the entire emulator. This results in
much better timing and synchronization amongst the various hardware components
and improves the emulation speed. I’ve also fixed some bugs that were added in
the previous release by accident (such as Contra not scrolling.)

Welcome to retroDrive! I never liked the name GENSX, so I
promised myself to get a new name for the next release. So here it is. I've
also dropped the version number and I'll just be using an incremental release
number. This is release 1.
Well, it's been six months since I've done any work on the
emulator so I decided to release what I've worked on so far. Hopefully it's
not broken.. I have some ideas on what I want to work on next, so I may be
doing some work in the near future, yay!
Btw, since my last updated I've reached the first
anniversary of the release of retroDrive (then affectionately known as Vegas,
soon grossly named GENSX.)
